Commissioned by my former clarinet teacher for one of her friends who is moving away. Both of them are part of a clique of seven ladies who refer to themselves as “the B’s,” or “the Bees.” They are all good friends and like to imbibe the fermented juice of grapes, hence the vines. All of them like chevron, partially for its trendiness but also because it’s an inside joke. The monograms are their initials, and the bees are arranged in the Pleiades constellation pattern.
The Pleiades are a cluster of seven stars. According to legend, the stars were once seven girls who were lifted by the gods into the sky so they could dance together forever.
